This is probably the shortest, most direct article I will ever write for Temple of VTEC Asia. But conversely, it is probably the sweetest, most gratifying article I ever expects to write.

It's the Malaysian leg of the 2004 F1 Season at the Sepang F1 Circuit. Being a guest of Honda Malaysia I was seated in the grandstand when one of the HM marketing guys came over with the simple words "Mr Wong, would you like to meet Mr. Fukui, our CEO ?". Would I indeed !

Mr Fukui himself is a very friendly, easily approachable person. As I went over to the group comprising Mr Fukui himself and the Honda Malaysia senior management, Mr Kuraishi, the Honda Malaysia CEO quickly introduced me to Mr Fukui. This is a great testimony to the pro-activeness and openness of Mr Kuraishi and his Honda Malaysis management. There was no attempt to 'shield' Mr Fukui from anyone. They were around to tend to him of course but they were also very happy to introduce everyone who wishes to meet the great man. Indeed when the call came for a group photo with the Honda Malaysia staff, without hesitation, they also invited everyone who was around to join the group. There was absolutely no segregation of 'Honda staff' and 'outsider'.

I of course also grabbed the opportunity of having my own photo taken with Mr Fukui, a photo that I proudly display above.

As Mr Fukui was standing around, I judged the situation carefully and when appropriate I quickly grabbed the chance to pass him my business cards; my professional one as an IBM employee and of course my other card, as webmaster of the Temple of VTEC Asia. And with that I introduced to him the Temple of VTEC Asia and vtec.net. Hopefully he has kept the cards and will be aware of us, the most fanatical Honda supporters in the world.

And of course there is the biggest and most important message that is burning to get out from inside me. Yes, I also took the opportunity to convey the request, a plead, from all Honda fanatics worldwide:

Mr Fukui, the great Honda Type-R models, please do not keep them only in Japan. Please also make them available to us, Honda fans from outside Japan. Please sell Honda's Type-R worldwide !

It was supremely satisfying that I have finally been given this dream of personally passing the message along to the most important, most influencial, and most powerful man in Honda Motor Co. Ltd, Mr Takeo Fukui the C.E.O. himself. I really hope he has heard my plea and I will be eagerly and excitedly waiting for many great and exciting new Honda Type-R models in the near future, models which Honda fans all over the world will finally get a chance to enjoy !
