So you can always enjoy the joy of driving...The S2000 is a new-generation, Real Open-Sports that satisfies its social responsibilities as it pursues its goal to go faster. |

Safety is a no-compromise item for any car. The S2000 has managed advanced safety levels without compromising weight - the life of sportscars. Active Safety - things that help prevent accidents from happening. Beyond accomplishing high levels of "drive," "turn," and "stop," we have pursued additional safety features such as the high-discharge lowbeam, with its nearly double brightness, and ABS (*1), which prevents wheel lock-up during sudden deceleration. In addition, the cockpit design allows for the driver to control all switches and knobs easily within reach, and the digital display has excellent readability. Passive Safety - things that prevent injury during an accident. In order to fulfill this, the open-bodied S2000 had to obtain the frame strength of a closed-bodied frame. The core tests are the full-frontal 55km/h (35mph) collision, offset 64km/h (40mph) collision, side-impact 50km/h (32mph) collision, and full-rear 50km/h (32mph) collision. The G-control technology allows us to simultaneously create a "multi-angle crashworthy body," "passenger protection system," and a "pedestrian protection body." The "multi-angle crashworthy body" is created using technological advances such as the High-X-Bone frame, along with straight side members designed to compress straight-back, the shock-absorbing tripod design, twin door beams, double-barreled front pillar, and roll bar. This allows for minimal cabin intrusion, which is so critical to passenger safety. The "passenger protection system" is led by seatbelt pre-tensioners, load limiters, dual-SRS Airbags (*2), shock-absorbing interior, and in-door shock-absorbing pads. With shock-absorbing hood hinges, and shock-absorbing wiper pods, we've even considered the pedestrian with our "pedestrian protection body." As can be seen, the S2000 has world-leading-class safety standards. |

If one aspect is advanced, another is sacrificed. This had been the obvious trade-off between performance and eco-friendliness. The S2000 turns this concept upside-down with advanced technology. While naturally aspirated, this engine produces 125ps per liter of displacement, while dramatically reducing smog output over conventional engines. It is the first engine to be approved for the Japan 2000 smog compliance law. Furthermore, using Honda's burn-control technology as a base, low-pressure metal converters, and multi-port secondary air intakes allow for the S2000's engine to easily pass the 2000 smog compliance law by undercutting it by 50%. At the same time, it gets impressive gas mileage: 10/15-mode gas mileage is 12.0km/h, and 60km/h gas mileage is 19.0km/h. With the low CO2 output, the S2000 fights the effects of global warming. This sportscar represents the sportscar of the future.

| (*1) - ABS (4-wheel Anti-lock Brake System) is a system that assists driver braking and enhances steering during hard braking situations. Therefore, like a car without ABS, you must decelerate adequately before turns. This is not a license to drive recklessly. Please drive safely. (*2) - SRS (Supplementary Restraint System) - The SRS airbag system will not deploy upon rearward or side-impact collisions. The SRS is meant to be supplementary - please wear your seatbelt properly at all times. |
