During the launch of the new 8th Generation Honda Civic for Malaysia, Honda also showed a Nighthawk Black unit which has been fully fitted with a standard Honda Access Modulo bodykit. As this is now the 'launching season' for the new 8th Gen Civic for most of Asia, this Modulo Civic then should make a most worthwhile feature car. This feature car article should be especially interesting to Civic fans as I feel the Modulo bodykit makes the already good looking 8G Civic very sporty indeed. The Modulo Civic featured here is fitted with the standard Honda Access Modulo bodykit comprising front and rear lower 'lip', side 'skirts', and a rear boot (trunk) spoiler. The wheels used are the standard 16inch. At the moment, it is only shown as a concept car, and the Modulo parts themselves are not yet available for sale, at least not in Malaysia anyway. Indications from Honda Malaysia are that it will become available starting in May this year. My personal hope is that Honda Malaysia will redo another run of their highly successful 'Civic RX' series. This series was started with the original extremely successful Civic RX, based on the D17A Civic fitted with a Honda Access Modulo bodykit, 16" Enkei 'EP3' rims and Michelin tyres. It was also fitted with a fully customized leathered interior. We actually covered this car in detail, in an exclusive coverage comprising two separate articles. Those articles are available by clicking on the following links : Launch coverage and Exclusive TOVA Review. When the original ET1 Civic 2.0 i-VTEC was launched, Honda Malaysia followed up with the Civic RX2. This was a less elaborate project, mainly because the base Civic 2.0 i-VTEC was already so well equipped. So it came with a full Modulo bodykit and 16" wheels. Personally my hope and expectation is that Honda Malaysia will do something similar with this new 8G Civic, perhaps with a more performance oriented package with sports suspension (in my opinion, something very much needed for the Civic 2.0S) and similar 'goodies'. Hopefully other countries around Asia might follow suit as well. Even if this didn't happen, as I understand it, Honda has launched Honda Access 'factory approved' aftermarkets for Asia after establishing a manufacturing plant for it in Thailand. At the moment, the plant only manufactures bodykits - high quality P.U. parts which are very resistant to abuse. So Civic fans throughout Asia should be able to do a similar 'project car' of their own as I would expect Honda to make Honda Access parts available throughout Asia in the very near future. So, as a precursor of good things to come, we present to you the Honda Civic Modulo in its current concept form. Note that the twin tail-pipe and 16" wheels are standard items.
