I intentionally held back this old entry in Scrap-Book because of its
significance - actual photos of the Spoon HQ in Japan taken by TOVA
regular Mike Mathews - so that I can re-displaying the photos again. Enjoy !
TOVA regular Mike Mathews comes true to form again, sending me shots
he took during his Japan trip last year. From a collection of 30+ shots,
I picked 5 very interesting shots taken at Spoon Sports Japan.
The above two pictures are shots of Spoon Sports Headquarters.
As the picture on the left shows, Spoon opens from 9am to 5pm. As experienced
by Eric Bauer when he visited Spoon (also last year), Spoon was very
friendly to Mike, allowing him to take quite a number of pictures of the
interior of the building as well as the many projects they're working on.
Spoon's trademark is stroke-ups of Honda's legendary range of DOHC VTEC
engines. These stroke-ups increases engine capacity to either
1800cc or 2000cc by changing the stroke of the engine (upping the
engine's compression ratio sky-high in the process).
I picked two other photos, one of a Spoon Civic Type-R with the
by-now famous characteristic black bonnet, and one of a Spoon Integra Type-R
with the bonnet open, showing the trademark yellow valve cover of
a Spoon tuned engine. Thanks Mike! (02-28-99)
