Here at Temple of VTEC Asia, we use the most popular website traffic monitoring freeware AXS from XAV.COM to track our site visitors. This very powerful tool has allowed us to monitor and analyze the traffic to our sites and we are constantly using it to improve our site. Here we publish selected statistical information from our AXS database to give visitors an idea of the popularity of this site.
While we consider this a rather inaccurate method of measuring the readership reach of a website, the 'monthy hit rate' or total number of visits to the whole site is still the most popular means used to measure a web-sites readership reach. Over the past year, between September 2004 to September 2005, our monthly hit rate have been steadily growing and at the moment is averaging around 40,000 to 50,000 total visits per month .
Because a website publication do not publish according to fixed schedules, the monthly hit-rates are, in our opinion, not a totally accurate guide to the total readership size for TOVA. One well-accepted though not fool-proof method of measuring the actual number of readers is to track the number of unique IP addresses. AXS allows us to do this.
The total number of unique IP addresses that we have tracked over a 1 year period from September 2004 to November 2005 is 121,670. While not the most accurate of measurements, this figure do suggest that the Temple of VTEC Asia reaches out to over a hundred thousand readers, most of them hardcore Honda enthusiasts with the majority based in Asia or the rest of the world outside of U.S. and Canada.
The number of members who have registered into our VTEC.NET Forums at the moment is close to fifty thousand. Please note that this is not an accurate measure of our readership size because we allow public access to our forum for viewing only and we do not impose membership requirements for visitors to read our articles. As a result, only those who are able to participate regularly in our forums will register as a member while many who are regular visitors who only wishes to read our reviews and articles have not registered.
The Temple of VTEC Asia belongs to the group of sites known as VTEC.NET. For VTEC.NET as a whole, we typically use our server log file to generate traffic statistics for our advertisers. In terms of monthly traffic, our server log shows an average of between 1 to 3 million vists a month. Please note that this includes the traffic to our VTEC.NET forum. Nevertheless, because of the very strict enforcement of nettique and our vigorous banning of flamers and rude members, our forum do not generate the same amount of traffic as some other internet forums might because we stop flame wars before they can start.
In terms of unique IP addresses, our server log reports around three hundred thousand (i.e. more than a quarter million) unique IP addresses to VTEC.NET as a whole (i.e. Temple of VTEC, Temple of VTEC Asia, and our new beta HondaF1.VTEC.NET) over the past year. We believe this figure is an accurate assessment of the total number of readers VTEC.NET as a combined whole reaches out to.
